What should we do to feel confident in the optimization of the database? In the last article we started with the functional test ( confidence in query optimization (part I) ), and now we're pretty sure that, at least from this perspective it is not broke. But most importantly we must make sure that our new solution actually works faster. Collect metrics, the execution time before and after optimization, a comparative analysis and determine whether we meet a new optimized version or not.
obvious fact that for the competent performance testing we first need to prepare well. And, at least, follow the 3 preparatory procedures, each of which I will dedicate the article.
